They are just un-educated that's all. Why don't you teach them so they don't think like that anymore. Nothing we say in here is going to change their mind unless they are members here. Only you can

Remember, Smokey the Bear says only you can prevent forest fires and I say only you can prevent un-educated hunters turning into idiots

I don't treat it or think about it being a sport. Just a tradition to put food on the table the way it was many years ago from our fore-fathers. Yes, I could go to the grocery store and get anything we need. But I think there is an internal desire for the way it use to be.

The more we become so-called "civilized", the more we forget the basics and what really matters.........JMO

I think where some folks get their nose out of joint, about calling hunting, a sport (hunters and non-hunters alike) is the killing factor. No-one wants to call killing a sport.
To me the dead deer at the end is not the sport of hunting, it is everything that leads up to that moment.
It's like playing hockey for the cup. The cup is not the sport, it is everything that leads up to winning the cup, that is the sport. The cup, is your trophy at the end of the game/games, in much the same way a deer is.

I say it is a sport to me, one that I live for. The added bonus is food for the table, peace of mind in the woods, and the excitement of the hunt.
