    Sounds like you need a new target!! Plastic fletch will do that after being driven through a target!! Feathers on the other hand would be trashed!!

    Steam works the best without risk of melting the plastic vane. The glue will not be effected by heat unless they were feltched with melt glue which is not a wise practice and should be used only for inserts.
    Dry heat from a hair dryer or held over a stove burner works well too but you definately have to pay attention to the vane since they can go from wavy to straight then right to melting in a fraction of a second.

    i use feathers they work well but not in the rain. steam from what i have heard

    I heard that you could use a hair dryer or dip them in boiling water. Sounds like steam would be a bit safer though.

    Steam would increase moisture and possibly breakdown the glue, I would use a hair dryer on a low setting and watch very closely how they react. If worse comes to worse, you could just have them refletched. That's why I do my own fletching. Much easier and no waiting.
