Default Good Tree / Bad Tree....

Set my ladder stand Saturday afternoon.....
I love the location, nice intersection of trails, good visability, and lots of deer traffic....

Found the perfect tree for my stand......It's a good tree.

It's covered in POISON IVY!!!, It's a bad tree.....

Used the tree pruner to pull off what vines I could, but still nowhere near all of them.......

I have just under two weeks til season starts......

I have considered hosing the whole tree down in ROUNDUP, but not sure if it will affect the deer....

    Any suggestions?????

Not sure if it will affect them but if you do it use the Roundup made for Brush and Ivy. That stuff is awesome.

Farmers roundup their beans.... and it doesn't seem to deter the deer!

My dad tought me this one if you cut the vines at the bottom of the tree in 3 to 4 days the rest of the vine will bedead and can be pulled off the tree so try cutting back the base of the ivy and wait. When there are real fat vines we cut out 4 inch section. man that stuff dies out fast try that be sure to wear long sleaves and gloves. Good luck

Probably wouldn't be too bad if you did it right away.

I heard that even dead poison ivy is still contagious. I can't get it so I wouldn't know.

Roundup would work ok. Now would be the time to do it.
Deer don't eat poison ivy so they'll be safe, and roundup is inert once it hits the ground, bark etc. Is is only absorbed into the plant through the leaves.

or the words of someone who is a glutten for punishment.....lol

    good luck with the stand.....

Now I'm starting to second guess the fact that I put it there, like even if I spray it, use gloves to pull off the rest, etc... that I'm still gonna get poison ivy.....man this sucks
