    Default Red Oak Acorns...tried one

I was out cleaning my stand out this weekend and got a stupid thought. I found an acorn and took a small bite from it. The initial flavor wasn't so bad, it was the after taste. All I can say is pucker factor 10. Worse than lemon juice. I can see why deer don't like them.

Just my stupid weekend scouting/bowhunting story.

How ironic...i just tried an acorn from a Burr Oak(mostly what we have) just a couple days ago.......didn't seem bitter, but it is a relative to the white oak.....actually reminded me of a peanut.

They like them,at least they do here in NY.The red oak acorns are dropping here on our property right now and the deer are eating them right up.

I'm sure there are alot of things deer eat that would make us puke.

White oaks acorns taste MUCH better then red acorns. That is why deer will choose whites over reds any day.

Last yeat we were unloading some beats for the deer. My buddy dared me to try one.

I cut off the dirty exterior and bite in. Pretty good if you ask me
