My huntin buddy shoots the g5s and they leave a wicked hole, I would shoot the g5s
I have never shot the G5's but know a couple of folks that do and I hear good things about them. My vote is for the Montec G5.
Go with the Spitfires! They are awesome heads and leave a wicked hole.
I have used the Spitfires and don't like them. This may sound silly but they left too big a hole. My buddy shot a doe at 20 yds and he left so big a hole that the lung actually plugged it up. The same friend shot shot 3 more deer and found none of them. He made a good shot on all 4 and had good blood on his arrows but still only found 1. He switched back to his MUZZY'S and has found all but 1 deer in the past 8 yrs.
Spitfires are a wicked head!
How much KE do you have?
1/2inch low to what the.... field points. If thats the case I would shoot the G5's and adjust the sights seems like an easy solution.
BowJoe, mechanicals have come along way since 8yrs ago when your buddy switched back to muzzy's. I use spitfires and no complaints here....except for the too big of a hole prob...lol
SPITFIRES!!!!!!!!!
I haven't used the spitfires or the G5's. But from what I have heard the both are supposed to fly great. With the Spitfires, I have heard of times where they didn't open. I don't know what caused it, but have heard it several times from different people. The only bad thing I have heard about the G5's are that they don't come as sharp as one might like, but are easily sharpened. As far as mechanical heads are concerned, I use the ShockWave by NAP instead of the SpitFires. As for Fixed blade heads, I am trying the Sonic Fury by American Broad Head company, but have thought of and been tempted to try the G5's.
Good Luck on which ever head you decide on.
Steve
