    Default Peep sight alignment

Why is it my peep sight never quite aligns with my eye so I have the full view through it. It causes guessing and this causes bigger groups. I can't seem to get the peep to align perfectly with my eye everytime. What is the corrective measure for this? String loops help some, but is there something better??

Yes a string loop should fix it. With my LX the factory serving my loop would slip and I had to have the area reserved and the problem was fixed. For the last two year I've used a no peep so I don't ever have to worry about a peep turning again. Good luck

Also if you close your eyes and draw your bow and anchor when you open your eyes you should be able to see thru your peep without having to move your head. If not you need to have the peep moved because that's the way it should be.

Swampy part of the problem probably is if you don't have over 200 shots on that string it has not set yet. I gave up my string kept stretching so much. I went back to a tube peep and am busting nocks.

Shoot your bow about 250 times, let it sit overnight and then check and reset (if necessary) the axle-to-axle and brace height measurements.

    Swamp Hunter,
Larry wise had a good article on tying in a peep by using 10 overhand knots using serving material. alternate knot from front to back as you tie them above and below the peep. After you tie the 9th knot tie in a short piece of serving to tie your 10th knot through it and use it to slip it under the other knots to finish off. The beauty of these overhand knots are they will screw up or down your string thus allowing you to move your peep in the string twist and make it lay flat every time. Very adjustable....

    Ken,

Personally I would use a string loop over that Ultra Nok, with the Ultra Nok the screws could come loose and when a 140" or bigger buck is in range you don't want that happening.

My buddy has one and he has to check the screws often. With a string its just peace of mind IMHO!

As for your string, give it some time, 200+ shots should work! LOL!!

I'd go with the string loop also. It will help.

But if you do experience stretch, all it takes is putting your bow in a press and twisting the string. If you're primarily a bowhunter, this is a must. However, if you're shooting competition, a simple twist of the string before you draw usually fixes it for that shot.

In fact, my shot routine up until last weeked was to twist the string to the right after I connect my release.

Honestly I'd stay away from D-Loops. String loops are far gentler on your bow.

Peep alignment can drive you nuts even with a string loop. Been there done that. Silicone Tube alignment peeps work everytime but you will get some noise and speed loss from these.

Honestly just for hunting Timberlines No-peep or a kisser are better options (Both work together rather nicely ). Low light is a peeps achilles heel and they have a particularly nasty habit of going out of alignment or being too hard to see thru right when your drawing on an animal.

If you want to shoot dots, stick with the hassle of a peep. If you want to have one less thing to worry about while hunting, get rid of it
