Ok this may be a dumb question but how exactly to you spin test your broadheads? I'm sure it is super simple but I have never done it. My broadheads are flying great I just want to know for future reference. Thanks.

spin testing is a little tricky if you do not have a arrow spinner. this is a device with 4 steel wheels on it so you can put the arrow on it and spin the arrow with the broadhead on. it will become very evident if the broadhead wobbles as you spin it.
if it wobbles, then your broadhead on that arrow WILL NOT fly properly.
i have been doing this for so long i can spin them like a top in my hand and tell if they are good.
what your looking for is no wobble. any wobble can be a sign of a bent ferrule on the broadhead, a insert not put in square to the shaft or a bent shaft in the case of aluminum arrows.
a arrow spinner will also tell you if your nocks are in straight as well. this is a commonly over looked place most shooters dont look at.
the bottom line is for those of us that use hotmelt glue, we can simply heat a field tip up and turn the insert a 1/4 turn and spin again with the broadhead on. just keep repeating until you find the perfcet spot where it spinsthe best.
i do all this after my arrows are cut. i square both ends and then put the insert into the shaft and attach a broadhead. i then spin it without any glue to find it perfect spot and then glue into place.
i cant tell you how many people i have done this for and how it can make arrows with broadheads fly so much better.

Here's a spin tester like Tony described.
I actually made one out of 4 bullet point field tips years ago before I got one of these.
Like Tony though I've been doing this so long I can spin them like a top in my hand too and tell if they are off.
I spin them on the end of my finger, and you can tell right away if they're misaligned.
I think it's comical that a couple of my buddies cannot do that for some reason.
Don't cry because it's over, smile because you were there.

I just spin mine on a hard flat surface, point down. You don't need to spin it like crazy either. Just enough to see whether it wobbles or not. Call me cheap, just cant see spending $30-40 bucks for something that can be done on a flat surface. The wife has this nice glass cover on our dinning room table.![]()
