SERM............are they sharing one brain???

Man I'm bitter with SERM these days, they are absolutely insane. I wasn't even thinking of the tags when i marched down here to put this post on but I'll add that.....the new tags suck!!!!
Last year I began to question their sanity when they began issuing 2 either sex tags for the forest. Everyone who cares knows it is the does we have a problem with the does not the bucks, 2 does fine, 2 bucks....................not fine. To compound this rediculous proposition, many guys found it there excuse to shoot both bucks in the fringe zone, 55, the one Superguide and I live in. Shoot a buck.....nobody's around, tag it with the forest tag. After it's in the truck, hard to prove where it was shot. It just drove me nuts last year, I know people did it for a fact.
I've been seeing a constant barrage of vehicles loaded with orange going past my place this week and hearing boom....boom.....boom. NOw this year they get the crazy idea to have a 2 week, late Oct. Moose season, bulls only......................but if you have a valid moose tag you can hunt whitetails too. So what this means is that my road is full of trucks with guys with a moose tag just in case, who are road hunting whitetails before they get truck shy. Lots of guys are willing to spend $30 on a moose tag if it means they can hunt whitetails with a rifle Oct 18-30. It is absolutely insane. It drives me nuts and the slob hunters are out in full force. This is so unfair for the guys who hunt hard with primitive weapons.
Throw in the CWD slaughter imposed down south and I have no respect for them at all, they should take lessons from the DNR in every other state and province. I realize it's not the officers but whoever makes the laws might be the biggest idiot I know.
Sorry this post was so long but I'm ticked off.....big time. I guess while we're busy eradicating our big Muley bucks we might as well eradicate and good bucks in the forest fringe zones!

I could not of said it any better!! I agree 110% I personally know guys from down here that do the exact thing,but a moose tag to get the extra whitetail tag!! Its a joke and I am sure you read bigbuck mag and garry donald has said more than once!! One more thing I am against big tiem is the stopping of non resident coyote hunting!We pay guys 14 a hour and miliage to kill them and we will not let peopel coem into our province, pay 30 for 3 coyote tags and spend 500 or rooms ect?? Makes no sence to me, I have sent e-amils and the reply was that it was disturbing the rifle hunters LOL!!I replied that having it satrt so early and ending dec 31 was stupid have it start dec 15 and end feb1, this way in the prime, no disturbing deer hunters and no non residents carring rifles during a open big game season, if that is there problem! I ahve not got a responce yet btu they are gettign lots of e-mails from me! the problem is the lady in charge, can not remember her name now but according to a retired warden she is against huntign and is working to shut it all down, she is doing a good job especially up norht in the 2 buck zones and in the CCW area,we have soeme of the best genetics in the world in those sandhills and they want to kill the hole genepool off!! Maybe that si what they are after!!!!!

LOL they started a elk season up in my area, great population with world class bulls ,never been hunted exept the local rancher puttign one in a freezer and never a big bull that I have heard of!! Anyways they made the season nov 1!! There is a monster game preserve the elk stay at each winter and now 95% of them are right inside of the safty, as soon as the first ML went off they were in there and no way to get them out!!Also why nov 1, would sept not be better if they want to controal the population?at least you could call them, now there is no hope, I think they knew this when they put the seaosn in effect, they only did it to satisfy the ranchers by saying we put a season can't help if noone got any@!!!, Prob be back after thinkin for a bit!!!

Like Kaare says they are totally mismanaging zone 55-it should have an elk season for sure and at least three anterless tags-why not sell them to youth hunters for 10 bucks a piece or make u fill two before you can get a buck tag. As to nonresident coyote hunting SERM stung me for 300 bucks on that one-it said right in synopsis that nonresidents didn't need services of a guiide-a couple of my americans had tagged out so I took them 'yote hunting on my day off while I was hunting deer-they charged me with hunting while guiding(outfitter's act). I don't know how you can guide for something that doesn't require a guide. They seized my rifle so I paid their b.s volountary fine $300 instead of risking losing a $1500 rifle-I totally lost respect for them after that.

Ohhh now I'm stirred up-Ty found a big buck dead on first day of season 3 years ago (158 net). So I went and got the head out of bush for him-thought I'd do it up right and get a horn possession permit from S.ERM-they tried to seize the horns-here's my 10 year old about to get screwed over so I told him I had an axe in the back of the truck I'd just chop them up in the parking lot-all of a sudden when he wasn't going to get his paws on them they wrote out ty's permit. I'm glad I hunt on foot way back on my own place so never have to deal with them much-zero public relations or common sense.

I went out muzzleloading this morning for the **** of it, went to where I shot my buck in early Oct. I spent most of the first 15 minutes of daylight taking cover. I became instantly ticked at SERM again. Obviously they didn't take safety issues into consideration, muzzleloader and archery hunters need no orange. What I saw was guys leaning over the hoods of their trucks pounding away with no regards for what may be beyond their target. This is usually the case with road hunters, I wish they'd ban it, no shooting within 100 yards of a road or something. After the smoke cleared and the last truck drove away I couldn't help but notice a nice buck come out of the cover across the road and hobble into the forest. Many of these guys don't even check for a hit, if it doesn't drop they assume they missed..........I didn't have time to check for blood, had to get home but it just infuriates me. Crossing over primitive weapons with rifle..................come on!!!!!!!!!!!

All I can say is that I totally agree.I have way to much to say about it & I would be here all day 2 fingure typing about the B.S that I put up with from road hunters around the city here.A guy posts his land so he & his buddies can hunt it.These road hunters don't think that a guy can be in a ground blind or whatever on the property.They just blaze away.I have to post my dad a mile down the road in the truck just so i dont get shot.Both sides of the road are posted but it doesnt stop these guys.Anyways have a good day.

Exactly Road Hunters are scum-there are about 5 major road hunting areas if SERM wanted to do something they'd be out there checking those idiots every morning or make 55 a totally hunt on foot area. I get pretty sick of being scoped on my own place.

Roadhunter's really tred the legality side of things pretty lightly-realistically how can you drive all over the country and know what fields are legal to hunt in and which are not-how can you know whether there's a house nearby-cattle in the field etc. etc. Just because it may be legal it sure as heck isn't ethical and is downright lazy. For crying out loud my 7 year old walked two miles with me after school today hunting had the time of her life. All road hunters do is get more and more land posted 'No Hunting' every year. If they want to drive up and kill something I can sell them a cow to blast!!!!!

Never mind just zone 55 - I think all of Saskatchewan should be "hunting on foot only". Last year my buddy and I were 30 degrees off from being shot at by a guy who drove into the field we were hunting in to take shots at a buck I had already shot as it headed for cover.

I don't mind it if guys want to cruise the grid roads to locate deer and then stalk them, but I would make it illegal for a truck to go off-road during hunting season . I get really pissed off when I see a couple trucks roaring through the fields trying to chase down a buck. Technically this is supposed to be illegal anyhow (harassing wildlife), but it never gets enforced. Maybe having a requirement that all rifles be in locked cases when transported in a vehicle would curb "road hunting".

I'm with ya LDB!!!IT happened to us on sat.We walk all morning & come over a hill to meet 2 trucks head on!They were of course shocked.I just put up my arms & asked them what they thought they were doing.Where I have been hunting a big buck for the last 2 years the deer have to come from posted land across a road into posted land where I have my blinds set up.The farmers house & cattle are within 500. But these guys still drive this road up & down hoping for a shot.They don't know I'm sitting there watching the whole thing.I have dad posted in the truck down the road just incase they stop or fire from the truck.That buck has been coming for me more than once & these "ROAD HUNTERS" have scared him back into the bush.Now I know I'm ranting but I have put in alot of hard work getting permision,setting up,scouting & freezing my tail off for not just hours but added up months waiting for this deer to come out.When he finally does some guy roars down the road to try & get a shot @ him & he disapears for another month!

Yeah I've had to hit the dirt when some wingnut has decided to strafe a deer running across a field-one guy in a half ton can ruin hunting for alot of guys in his morning drive by. I remember one time going on about a 3 mile quick hike to get the wind right to get into this little honeyhole just at the right time when some @#$%^^ decided to cruise it with his truck-got his licence number and the landowner hunted him down and tuned him good-more of that needs to happen.

I was talking to a guy today about the insanity of the Moose season in 55. He told me that he had phoned SERM to ask them if his whitetail tag was still good after he should shoot a Moose as in the regulations it says, "valid" Moose tag. He was wondering if it was still valid if he used the tag portion on a Moose. They weren't sure of what to tell him, after they hummed and hawed about it, he got a "I guess so" out of them. I can't think of an organization out there doing as poor of a job as them.
As for the road hunters, I'll get back at them, I'll go by their favorite drive by zones before them this weekend, honking my horn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
