I think my numbers might be down a little bit from last year. The one property that ussually has the biggest flock coming out of winter before they seperate has well over a hundred ussually while this year they are probably in the 50 to 70 range. The other properties all seem to have some 10 to 15 each with a two or three gobblers on each one, which is about the last few years averages. I'll let you know better in a week or two. Heading out tonight to scout out a new property, and if time I might try to get some better counts on the other properties this week.
we hunt down in the midland area, and when my uncle was last talking to the guys we hunt with, which was around dec-jan i believe, he said the population was doing great! but feb brought a lot of snow, so who knows how they faired through last month. guess we'll soon find out!!!![]()
They formed a turkey federation down here on NS, but the goverment stuck their nose in again. Said the birds might bring in new sickness. Could be right, i don,t know. Would have been nice to know if they servived. Grand kids might have been able to hunt them in years to come.![]()

[/ QUOTE ] Funny thing is that well within 10 years of the first turkeys coming to Ontario, the population had grown enough to have a hunting season and in alot of areas across ontario! So not only could your grandkids have hunted them but you could have too!
I've bear hunted in Parry Sound and Bracebridge the past 3 yrs and have seen turkeys every time---looks like you've got a few birds.
