    Default MUST READ: P.A.L.\'s

While having a campfire discussion at the lake this past weekend, a lady that camps with us said she had gotten a notice to renew her posseion lisence, but she didn't realize what it was and seeing as the conservatives are gonna get rid of the gun law, she just disregarded it. Well she received a couple more notices that now say because she did not renew her lisence that she must report to the police, or a judge and turn in her 22, the only gun she has I might add. So all of us began to dig into our wallets and sure enough my dads PAL should have been renewed in January, but he didn't receive any notices that it need to be renewed, and another guy's is due in 2 weeks and he has yet to receive any info either. So now because there were no notices sent out out about renewing it my dad is in illegal posseison of guns, which isn't a big deal to us, but how many other people don't realize you need to renew your PAL's? Now my dad has to re-apply for his instead of just renewing it because he missed his renewal date. We all thought they were good for life, so all you people check out your lisence and see when you need to renew it.

I wish they would trash it soon. Every day that goes by is more waisted tax dollars, and more innocent people made out to be criminals.

good point tymber, I don't think having to prove your compentency (once only though) is a bad idea. Its this whole, take the test and renew bs. I say if you have a clean criminal/pyschiatric and have taken your HUN TERS safety, you should be good to go. Thats just for long rifles, shotguns and blackpowders. diffrent opinions anyone?

Exactly .....It's the dumbest thing I have ever seen. The government seems to trust me with all the guns I have, but, God forbid if I should buy one more....LOL

You don't have to take the course if you have proof of a expired FAC . You will have to do the test however.
Buying guns with the PAL is no prob ..even thru mailorder.
There's a number of companys in Canada that still has mailorder services for guns and ammo .

Nope, totally unacceptable in my book and here is why.

#1 - I took a firearms safety course when I was 15 years old, passed with flying colours, don't have a criminal record, and have been handling guns legally and safely for 38 years.
#2- I used to have an FAC, but I let it expire because at the time, I wasn't interested in buying another gun
#3 - I do not have a PAL, I have a POL(Possession Only Permit). I am not allowed to buy a gun with a POL, but, I am allowed to buy ammo for the guns I have.
#4 - I do not want to take the test, because it is redundant, and it costs money, even just to write it.
#5 - The new Canadian gun registry has done nothing...absolutlely nothing to detour armed criminals. In fact, it has armed them even more, because when everyone panicked, to turn in guns that were laying around the house, many of those guns were sold privately to the highest bidder, just to make a few bucks, instead of seeing a perfectly good gun get destroyed. The gun registry caused a black-market glut on unregistered firearms.
#6 - The gun registry has also made criminals out of every gun owner who is in civil disobedience to the registry, who, before the registry, were good, law abiding safe citizens.
