Cool 1st post in the new room

Never really given a lot of thought to using a crossbow myself, but if my shoulder continues to give problems in the future might possibly look into it. State here has allowed use of crossbows during the general archery season for a while now and lot of people using them.

A lot of crossbows on the market, what kind of suggestions to look at in an entry level hunting setup; brand, fps min, etc. Hear ranges are lesser than a compound, what kind of realistic expectations for use for whitetails with modern day average crossbows.

I'm the same. The older I get the left shoulder has some bursitis in it and can be extremely painful on short notice. Might need a crossbow as well. Maryland opened up the crossbow to everyone for archery. One favor to ask, let's not bash our fellow hunters because of anyone's personal opinion about crossbows. I rarely post on another forum because that's what a lot of them like to do, bash other people because they don't agree with something. It's okay to disagree but your opinion is valid to you, not necessarily all of us. It's okay to express an opinion but don't smash others because your opinion is different. Please?

Holy cow, the sky is falling!!! We have a crossbow room now??

I like it. There sure are a lot of crossbow hunters out there, my son included. Heck, I even took his crossbow out once last fall....

Pretty sure there will be no tolerance here for bashing. Adding this room should be a good way to seperate discussions.

Honestly don't know that I will ever pick up or try crossbow, and I was not exactly supportive of the change this state made at first when they first made the changes to allow them without a physician signed statement to show a disability, BUT if it gets more hunters in the woods it cannot be all bad.

Never had any problems with drawing my bow or pain while drawing it, but got to face it that my shoulder is not getting any better the older I get. My left shoulder is where my problem is at as well.

Any flames or bashing of the legal use of crossbows (or their users) won't be tolerated and will be dealt with swiftly.

Now, does anyone know how many states now allow crossbow hunting (for both disabled and able hunters)?

I think you have a physician fill out a form for you in order to use a crossbow in MO.....

About time!...I think any weapon should be allowed for hunting deer as long as it is legal..including cross bows. Disabled or not.

Maryland opened it up this year to all hunters. I wouldn't mind trying it just for a different challenge.

As Ive said before we as hunters have to stop the infighting. Years ago when the compound bows came in the picture the traditional bow hunters were up in arms... Now look at the industry I was invited to Ohio this fall for a crossbow hunt and Im excited about it

I was going to post something similar but you beat me too it. ! It's true, all things take a while to evolve in hunting due to the rich traditional history.
