Thread: what a day

    Default what a day

I went out bowhunting yesterday. Virginia's firearms season doesn't open for a few more weeks. I bumped 4 deer going in around 4opm. At five I saw a huge racked buck coming my way. I was so excited I diodn't bother to count, I just know it was big. He went behind a bush at 25 yards, so I got up to draw, and when I did, I got snorted at from behind. The big boy took off so I turned slow to see what was behind me. A little spike (antlers barely broke the skin) was straing at me. The little guy snorted and scared the big boy off, then stayed around. I let him wander off. Then at dusk, another nice buck came wandering into range. By the time it got to where i had a shot, it was too dark to make a good shot. Needless to say, I'm ready to hang my bow up and grab my 7mm.

Had a similar experience Friday morning. Only it was a doe with a fawn behind me and a doe with another deer uncertain buck or doe out in front of me. Got busted when I took my bow off the hanger by the doe behind me.
