Default Will he be seen again?

Saturday night I was bow hunting. When it started getting dark I saw a small buck halling butt towards my stand, behind him was a huge 8 point. I had a shot. Pulled back and grunted to stop him. He took two more steps than planned and stopped behind a tree. I had another opening, when he stepped out I grunted again and he stopped. I was so focused in on the deer that I didn't see a twig in fromt of my bow. If he stopped the first time, this twig wouldn't have been a problem. I released my arrow and nicked the twig in front of me. The arrow fluttered off. The deer jumped forward and stopped again. then he continued to follow the little buck. I grunted a couple of times with no avail. and they continued on.

My question is, do you guys think he will still be as active in the same area or will he go nocturnal from the incident? Should I set a stand up in the area in which he ran or should I go back in the same spot? Any reccomendations would be appreciated!!!! Thanks--Rossman

    Hey Rosman!!!

My bowhunting experience has been: If they "KNOW YOU ARE THERE, THEY WILL STAY AWAY". Now let me clarify: I do not think the arrow hitting the branch would be a problem because it sounds "natural" to him. The question is "DID HE LOCATE, SEE, OR SMELL YOU"! If any of the three are yes you are probably out of luck. Those boys learn real fast!!!!

    good luck to all!

One thing I left out. Soon after they came through, a coyote came through! Hopefully the coyote may have helped the cause!!!

If he didnt see or smell you and the arrow was all that spooked him id think he will be back. This time of year theres all sorts of things falling outta the trees and if he didnt notice you he probably didnt think much of it after the intial noise.

Have to agree with horst here. Good chance you might see him again.
