Default What scent should I use, If any???

I had an encounter with a huge buck this past saturday. He was startled but not spooked. I gave the area a couple of days to rest. Now I would like to sneak back to my stand and hunt all day tomorrow. Should I lay a scent trail to my stand, hang any scents or not use any at all. I usually use fox urine or tarsal scent on my boots heading to my stand. I thought about using doe in heat but it doesn't seem as if the does are standing yet. This may just spook them.

Any reccomendations would be much appreciated. Thanks so much--rossman

i wouldn't use any, and certainly not estrous--too early for that i think, but if you do use a drag rag, remember to walk 10 yards or so all around your stand, and take the rag off before you get to the base of your tree. i've read and have seen first hand where a deer will follow the drag rag right to the stand and never give the hunter a shot because the deer came straight in.

I don't know if I would use any deer lure just yet. I would however keep a good dose of Scent-A-Way on you.

I wouldn't use any scent either. I'd go with the scent free approach for now.

I wouldn't hesitate to use dominant buck urine right now, or some sort of tarsal scent. Basically any territorial challenge scent would be good right now cause the does aren't ready yet, but the bucks are scraping and rubbing to all heck and back. They're ready for the rut, and ready to battle any buck that infringes on his turf.
