I do a grunting sequence about every 30 minutes. Give maybe 3-4 grunts and sit back and see what happens. I've never blindly grunted in a buck though.

I use a fawn bleat to pull in doe. (Meat in the freezer) 3-6 beats every 25-30 minutes. I've called in doe in previous years, so far just coyotees this year.

I have blindly called in 3 bucks, however all three came to my back side and I didn't know they were there untill it was too late. I used a combination of doe and buck grunts all three times 1 was early rut the other 2 were during the Thanksgiving hunt.

Depends really. This time of year I grunt 3-4 soft low buck grunts in a sequence about every 20 minutes or so. Also throw in some bleats with the can in some of those sequences. Will call a little more aggressively really soon.

I get caught grunting and bleating too much, myself. When I start, it seems like it's all over but the crying. I need to be more disciplined, myself.

Last week I went through a whole routine of grunting and bleating and then some light rattling - 30 minutes later I was walking towards a known scrape to urinate in it and there was a deer (unknown sex) bedding about 15 yards from it, which was about 70 yards from my stand location.

The deer heard my racket, but just ignored me. Discipline, Discipline, Discipline.
