Just looking for some people to keep in touch with on what you or i see in the wood . Im ready to take some time off work to sit all day. 2nd full moon thursday and a cold snap next week late so let me know if a got any input .

I hunt in Carroll and Jo Daviess counties in northern illinois. Last weekend i could have shot a nice 8 pt, my dad shot an 8 pt but couldnt find it, and my cousin shot a 10 pt. All within 3 days, so the bucks are up and moving, but they arent rutting yet, which is weird. I guess they are just cruising waiting for the does now. Give it a week or two and it should start getting crazy. The buck i saw scent checked 3 does and kept walking... didnt really care...

thanks for the reply and thats what ive heard around here too. A buddy of mine seen a doe bedding down in the middle of a field and a buck standing in the tree line just watching her .I was out last sat seen a bunch of does but no bucks. Keep in touch .

Good idea man! I'm in southern IL hunting in Marion county. I haven't been out hunting as much as I'd like to with all of this rain. But last week I saw a couple small bucks, but this past Sunday I saw a big 8 on the way to my spot while driving my truck. It was about 15 minutes before daylight. I kindof got to the stand a little late. But now it has got warm again and raining again. But like you said BEEF next week there is going to be that cold snap and I can't wait. Next Thursday I'll be heading up to hunt Greene County with my Uncle on his buddy's ground. I can't wait.

I HAVEN'T SEEN A WHOLE LOT OF RUTTING ACTIVITY YET.I GRUNTED IN A SMALL BUCK LAST WEEK,BUT HAVEN'T SEEN ANY CHASING YET.I HUNT IN MADISON AND MONTGOMERY COUNTY.I'M GOING TO SOUTH DAKOTA FOR A PHESANT HUNT UNTIL NEXT TUESDAY,THEN I PLAN ON HUNTING PRETTY HARD UNTIL SHOTGUN SEASON.

Most of my hunting is done in Carroll county... did have a couple scrapes open up early (first full week in October)... the younger bucks are starting to get a little antsy and moving around a little more, but still deer movement is not very high... Next week when the temps take a dive i think things will start heating up...

I was in Greene county Oct 15, 16, 17 & 18 in the Eldred area... plenty of scrapes and rubs... saw 2 trees bigger than my thigh that were torn up... deer movement was low in daylight hours... scrapes were getting hit at night

Fulldrw yes i do know d&m store thats where i get all my stuff. God i cant wait for next week im going to take off thurday and friday and the temps are for 50s in the day and low 30s at night . Might just get nuts in the woods boys !!!!!!

Its starting to get a little cooler today! Hopefully that'll get em goin a bit. We can only hope eh guys?

I'm glad to hear from you guys cause I hunt just over the border in NW Indiana. Not too many guys on here that hunt Northern Indiana so I have to wait to hear from the flatlanders.

Maybe next year we can swap a hunt - I live in Chicago, but no permission to hunt here yet, only IN.

Here in peoria county it is about the same. A few small bucks starting to scrape and follow does just a little, but the big boy's are still nocturnal. It will take a good cold snap to get um moving. Or 2 weeks ought to do it!

bucks are starting to move around here . alot more are showing up in fields and moveing around . A buddie killed a 140 class 10 pointer saturday night. Two more days of work and its off to the stand for four days.

I jsut saw a biiig 12 pointer on my way home tonight in the rain. I turned around to get a better look at him and he was gone. But they are getting active it seems.

IM up near Galena and the Bucks have been pushing the does hard and have been tearing up the scrapes the last 3 days, Im having a hard time not staying in the woods
