Waiting for Muzzleloader and the Rut.. Nov 6th

whats up, I've been lucky enough to have taken 2 deer with my bow so far. A 4 point and a Doe. I've been hunting an area with rubs everywhere, but havent gotten to see the buck making them. The trees are probably 7 inches or more in diameter ( not no small saplings) so im pretty positive a bigger buck is making them. I think I saw the buck, I saw him 2 nights in a row as i drove up the hill to my house. It was dark but he had a huge mass above his head. so im thinking that it was him. Just waiting until muzzleloader to hunt the area i think he goes through. hoping to catch him sometime this year. hopefully the rut starts soon ( should be in a week or 2) so hopefully if this guy is nocturinal ( which i saw hime both times past 12:30 AM) That the rut will make him show himself during the day.

any other VA hunters out there?

Our ml opener in TN is the 6th as well. With the youth hunt this weekend our first segment of archery will be closed.

Found several fresh scrapes Monday morning along the trail near one of my stand, I had moved around some, hoping I get an opportunity to see and have a shot on who is making em.

Good Luck hope you are able to take him! ours opened last weekend! I had a pretty good outting! No shot though! saw 3 bucks!

Yep, I hear ya. I hunt East of BR, so we start Sat morning. Unfortunately, its supposed to be 78 degF that afternoon! That sucks! Oh well, looks like it will be a morning hunt. Hopefully, I won't need the afternoon hunt.

Va. east of the blueridge as well I'm hoping for a cold one this sat. as well (weather that is) I use to hunt jefferson nat. forest on Brushy mtn. Kinda want to go back... Have fam . in Roanoke... anyhow good luck on opening day. I'm wanting to add some point to our team.Go Team Wack'um and Stack'um!!
