Check out hamannfarms. There are some good seed blends offered here. I planted an acre of the grower mix back in the spring and it is really starting to come on well now. Have also had good results from pennington rackmaster seed blends. Have tried biologic and had no luck with it.

As far as planting, for a clover/trefoil planting I would suggest planting in the fall. Less competition from grasses and weeds. Here is a link for some more info qdma.

Right now I have 2.5 acres of Whitetail clover, 1 acre of Alfa Rack, and 0.5 acre of Buck Forage oats. The clover is aged and needs replanted. Its first 2 years it really pulled in the deer. This is the first hunting season for the Alfa Rack and the deer are hitting it good. The oats were planted Labor Day weekend and are just now getting enough rain to grow well. They've seen some action but I expect much more once the deer have a chance to find it. What you plant will depend on the drainage of the plots. If it was mine I'd plant the large plot in Alfa Rack and the smaller one in Buck Forage oats. Plant the Alfa Rack in the spring and the oats in the fall. There are other good blends out there, that's just what has worked for me.

I have Alfalfa Rack that I planted this spring and the deer have been on it ever since I took the Plot Saver down about a month after planting it.They really love the stuff.
I also planted some Purple Top Turnips for the winter.
