    Default Dad\'s BUCK!

Well yesterday I just had a hunch.Dad & I go out deer hunting everyday after work to one of the places where we have permision to hunt. There has been a bit of shooting in the area that we have been in so I decided to hit my hot spot. This is where I shot my big non-typ whitetail & my brother & I have taken lots of nice deer there over the last 13 years.
Dad picked me up @ 4pm & we headed out.It was so foggy that you could only see about 100 yards.I thought "perfect".We parked in the farmers yard & made our way out to the honey hole.It was damp so I spread the wool blanket out that I carried for us & we settled in.
I had my grunt tube & horns with me & decide to give them a try.First a few soft grunts.A doe had come through the fog undetected! She ran into the buck brush & stopped. Then she started to snort. So everytime she snorted I would make a couple soft grunts. She became very interested & would come within 40 yards & walk off again. So I had an idea.I grabbed one of my antlers & hit the groud with it a couple of times.Wow was she curious now!All along I'm thinking "This is Good!".So I grab both antlers & start my sequence. It took a bit but more does showed up out of the fog & came into view.I ended with some grunts & waited.
It didn't take long & we heard deer in the bush coming towards us.I knew it was a buck, but with the fog couldn't see anything.I told dad to get his head down & that we would just have to wait until he walked out in front of us.I got caught kind of day dreaming.Thinking,"This could be the night after 3 weeks of looking for a buck."We were both laying on our bellies on the blanket & I lifted my head to look over the hill. There 30 yards from us looking right @ me was a buck standing in the fog.As I gave dad a nudge he lifted his muzzleloader & with a squeeze scored his 2004 Whitetail Buck.It ran 40 yards & dropped dead. It's no monster but dad is 73 years young & is well past the trophy hunting stage.4 points on each side & is a big animal.Lots of meat for the freazer.Yes I took some pics but with my regular camera.I hope to finish the roll this weekend.I will post the pics as soon as I get them.
