This hunt was right out of the book! I have been watching a buck for a few days & it didnt take long to pattern him & the other deer in this field.I passed him up on friday evening after having a real good look @ him.I wanted to take my Niece out mon or tues for her to try for him.She couldnt make it either day so I stopped & picked up a young fellow that has been hunting with us this year.He is 15 & it is his first year hunting.He is actually the son of one of the land oweners where we hunt.
We got set up in a little bluff on the edge of the field where the deer were coming out.I layed down for a nap.It wasnt long & I was getting a jab & I heard a whisper,"There's deer out there."I took a look,yup does."Get ready,the bucks will come in a bit."Back to my nap,so I thought.It wasnt long until I got a BIG jab!"There's a buck out there.""How big."I asked."I think it's the one you told me about."I had a quick look,it looked good & it was closing.I told him to wait until it got closer.He came with in 100 yards broadside."Can I shoot it?"I said "Ya."No sooner did I say it & BOOM!My ear was ringing & the buck DROPPED right where he was standing.Big high fives & smiles from ear to ear.
