What Rifle?

Going to Kansas in Dec for a rifle hunt and have my choice between using my 243 or 270 - I know which one I prefer to shoot but just wanted to know what you guys think ?

What are you hunting??? If it is Whitetail or mulie with the right load, I would say which ever one you are most comfortable with and shoot the best with. I would prefer the .270 but that's just me.

What quality of glass do they have on them. I would much rather have the .270 if it was me.

I shot my first deer with a 6mm Remington, so the 243 is a perfectly acceptable round to me. But given that choice I would pick the 270 just in case you get a longer shot oportunity. But like everyone says, pick the one you shoot the best. It is much more about where you hit them not what you hit them with.

id take the .270 if i were in your situation. But that would just be my personal preference. Take what your most comfortable with.

270 in my opinion, those are some pretty big deer. and i know that it shouldn't matter what weapon, its the shot that counts. but the 270 packs a bit more punch

If they both shoot about the same and if YOU can shoot both about the same, there's no reason not to use the larger caliber.

BTW - Unless I'm restricted by weight or space, I always take 2 rifles on an out of town hunt. So my suggestion is to take both!

270 between the two but Id want something bigger, sorry not bashing or anything but I dont wanna shoot anything smaller than 280 or 30-06 for big game from whitetails on up.... If it where my choice Id take my Remington 30-06 with Simmons Scope and its a bolt action but between the two you are choosing with take the 270 it is just that much more power than the 243....

We will be hunting whitetail....
