I have used pine needles before for a cover scent and seemed to work very well. Now that I have scent lock I don't worry about it, but i also used to put my coveralls in the hog confinement since we used to hunt by one and it worked very well to stunk bad but worked.

I've never tried that, but it would seem that it would work. I've heard that layering your clothes with pine boughs works well and read in an old hunting book that the men would start a small fire, burning pine, and walk around in the smoke. I guess the burning pitch coats the clothes and eliminates your scent. Not sure how good it is for the clothes though!

I store my hunting clothes in a cedar chest. Gives them a nice "cedary" smell that a close match to the cedars we have on the ranch I hunt.

Have tried using acorns and leaves from around the property to make a spray. It ends up really smelling like fresh earth, or freshly tunred leaves.

Anymore I just use cedar limbs in my plastic totes. Been a proven method for me for years now.
