Deer hunting question..

I am the type of hunter who likes to slip effortlessly, quietly and as lightly as possible into the woods. The smaller or lighter any equiptment is, I want want it to carry into the deer woods. I hate the feeling of "lugging crap" around. For several years I have hunted just from the ground on a 3 legged folding stool during the gun seasons (I could use lock-ons, but I like to be more flexible when it comes to moving around). Here is my question. For those of you that carry the Summit climbers, your bow and fanny packs, by the time you get into the woods, aren't you feeling a bit overloaded ? I have a Summit climber and will be using it all weekend hunting with bdboy53, but man, what a load to haul around through the brush to get to where I hunt. Maybe I am getting soft as I get older, but it sure is nice to not have to mess with stuff either on the way in...or the way out. What do you guys think?

i have a friend that carries everything but the kitchen sink, were talking chairs, backpack,enough food to feed an army, not to mention he carries his rifle in and out of the woods in a gun case. Myself as light as possible, my regular hunting clothes , weapon, extra gloves, sox and a light lunch..

I have my summit on one tree right now. Will probably move it, but will move it prior to hunting it. I like to make sure I have a clean view of where I want to see before I get up in a tree 30-45 minutes before it gets light.

I love my climber but do get tired of hauling it around...i usually sit in a ladder stand inthr morning so i dont have to mess with hauling that climber and messing with it in the dark. I usually take a back pack in the morning when im in a ladder stand, but dont take anything but the climber and the rifle/bow in the afternoon.

And i dont think your getting soft with age....i feel the same way at times and im just 19

I attached a side bag (replaces fannypack) to my summit so I am just carrying my stand and bow.

Thats me dont know why but I take everything I can or think might come in handy. However I already have my stand up and just need to carry my backpack but sure is loaded down and HEAVY!

I don't notice the weight. I think my summit weighs 23lbs, then my backpack is another 10 at least. I put my backpack on my chest then put my climber in my back. Once I get the straps pulled tight its pretty balanced and I don't have a problem with it. But it gets annoying when I'm trying to go through really thick brush and every branch grabs ahold of it.

when i use my summit i use a big fanny pack instead of a backpack i just spin it around in the front.

How did you get to be a black belt by complaining of hauling a mere 17lbs of stand a 1/4 mile?

For me, a fat, out of shape, middle aged, football wannabe has-been, I don't mind hauling my stand around at all. It's the little things that drive me nuts. Things like scent wicks, tinks bottles, pruners, saws, etc. etc. Stuff you use only occasionally and are always getting in your way when you're looking for your grunt tube or can call.
