I just got finished planting about 15 persimmon trees on my land. I've got about 20 more growing in my sun room that I will transplant next year. I collect the seed in the fall, put it in the fridge for about 2 months and then plant in a styrofoam cup. They can produce fruit in about 5 years!

    good luck

Last year I put out about 75 butternut and 100 persimmon trees I had raised. I have about a dozen pear seedlings that I'm going to transplant this weekend. Problem is.........the deer love to eat the seedlings as much as the fruit.

The deer love our fruit trees. The buck rubs his antlers on a Yellow Delicious and has broken it every year for the past five years. It still lives but has never beared fruit. He also destroyed three peach trees which we will replace this year. Stupid thing comes out at night and just tears the trees up.

We planted 30 fruit trees on our club property when I lived in VA, the deer did tear some of them up but the main problem was the bears in the fall breaking the branches to get he fruit.
