    Default 2 deer, 1 shot

Just read in the paper aboput a kid that got 2 deer with one shot in Stevens Point, Wisc. Says deer were standing almost side by side, shot went through 1 and into neck of other deer. Read story in Chicago Sun Times today.

Seen that in the Lacrosse tribune. I have heard claims of guys doing it, but never hunted with anyone who has.

Have heard of a few hunters doing this before, some intentional, some accidental. First time my oldest daughter was the hunter at age 8, I would not let her take a shot until the deer in the background were clear. We had 8 does in the field, seemed like every time the biggest doe she had the scope on was perfect broadside, she had another doe behind her and I would not let her take the shot. She learned from me that in my opinion it is not ethical to attempt such shots as you run the risk of potentialy wounding the second deer.

Taking a shot at an animal with an animal behind it in my opinion is not a good shot.

Think how many deer in the background get wounded. I bet more then get killed. Plus how mnay people will go looking for that 2nd deer when they thought they only got the front one.

I was always taught to have a clear background before taking shots. I'm actually surprised they even had an article in the newspaper about it.

As long as you have the tags and the weapon can pull it off, I'm all for it.

I dont think its right for the second animal to do it. If you just woend it or just hit him enough so he goes and bleeds out somewhere and you dont find him that sucks.

I know people that have done it luckily they had enough tags to take both of the deer. It ends your season pretty fast. I also do not think it is a good shot to have a deer in the background when taking a shot, instead of killing the deer you moght wound it and never find it.

I heard of a guy shooting a buck and a doe one time. The do was standing right beside the buck and according to the story he thought there was only on deer there. He didnt know that there were to there until he walked up and saw two deer. He thought he was just shooting at a buck!
