we hunted hardall day saterday and seen a ton of deer, prob 30 bucks, 5 were in the 140-150 class and my daughter just was not in the right place at the right time, 2of my buddies took 140ish deer,I am to fussy still to end the season! today me and another buddy went out in -25 with a 30 mph wind, nothing was moving all morning so i called my daughter at noon and asked if she wanted to skip last period of school and check a few sloughs out,[just french no big loss]we left town at 2.30 and drove 3 miles out and started to glass from a hill, within 5 seconds a doe bolts out a chunk of brush and followed by a decent buck, I watch him dogging her for 1/2 hour through the spotting scope and decide if we drive 4 miles around we should be able to come right over on them in a slough,as we walked in I seen them crest a nearby hill,we ran to the top and they were stopped at 200 yards,by the time she got steady on her shootign sticks they were on the run,one shot and he buckled but kept going, she was sick I said no he is hit good and wait, we went back to the truck and drove up and picked up the trail about 300 yards away and found very little blood but enough to know a good shot seeign it was dark, not frothy though and some white hair so I knew she was a bit low or back,as we came in a slough I heard rusling and he was down for the count, she caught the liver and back part of the far lung, perfect![glad there was snow for tracking, he went about 500 yards]!here they are, her biggest deer to date, he is a main frame 4 pt with forked brows and a small third beam[1/2] inch startign from the skull! we are super happy, not the biggest deer btu for a 15 year old sure is a good start!!
