When my wife and I got together she wanted to bowhunt. So I bought her a bow and come that deer season she went several times with no luck. The following year, our son was born, and she sat out for a couple of years without going. This summer I built a box blind, so if my family wanted to go they could. I asked my wife last week if she want to go hunting and she said sure. So off we go early Thanksgiving morning to blind.
I had everything already set up. I had a sleeping bag and toys for our 2 year old son thinking this might keep him happy and quite. As we got into the stand I turned off the flashlight and my son came unglued. I thought there is no way we will see anything, but grabed a light stick out of my bag that he was happy to see and play with.
At day break my son had just fell asleep when a little 8 pt came walking into the field. We watched the deer for 5 mins or so, and she decided that was the one she wanted. As she steadied the gun preparing to take the shot, I was ready to pick up our son because I knew the noise would wake him up. The 30-30 went off, the deer droped and our son never moved or woke up. It was an awesome experience and a day I will never forget. This was her first deer and our sons first hunt.
Sorry for the long post. Thought I would share the story.
