Nope. I tried to get his pretty side in the photo.
It grew like that. Two points are on that side. A small.. err.. I guess it would be the brow tine then you can see kind of clearly the other point going straight up and rounded on the end.
EDIT: Here you go:

Ah. But when you saw an absolute monster in the same spot during bow season.. This funky buck doesn't cut it.![]()
Did you happen to notice if the deer had any freshly healed bad wounds from early this year or late last year. Many times a deer will grow weird antlers like that because their bodies are putting all the energy and nutrition into healing a wound instead of growing the antlers. I've seen it many times.
That's kind of what it looks like in this case, instead of genetics.
Regardless....way to go![]()
I looked around for any wounds. Only thing near a wound was a small scab on its back when I skinned it. It was plenty healthy too.
I love non typicals, they are my fav...Congrats!
Like Buckee said, abnormal antler growth is USUALLY due to an injury on the opposite side rear, of the malformed antler.
But messed up genetics do it as well![]()
That is a strange deer. A unique buck though congratulations!
great buck - congrats
