    Default What do you think?

On my property, there is a high ridge thats ridges run about 300 yards and has 3 points coming off of it. It is thick cover and deer always bed and stay up there for protection. We have stands on 2 sides of the 3 points and let me tell you, what stands they are. Each year we catch bucks coming off this high point chasing does. Right now there are putting a gas well on the back side of this high ridge and it is now cleared. The whole ridge (which is not very wide, about 50-70 yards wide, about 100 at the end where it gets wider) will be cleared with grass planted (alfa-rack). All 3 hillsides of the ridge will still be woods. My question for you all is.... has anyone hunted a high ridge that was cleared on the top flat? I was just trying to think how the deer will be using this next fall. Tell me if y'all have any experience with a location like this, or any opinions. Thanks

I don't have any idea how this terrain change will affect deer movement, but if you put out a trail cam (and check out signs left behind) I am sure you will be able to figure them out before the next season...

I doubt they will go far. Do some good scouting this summer, and you should be all set.

Have hunted hills similar to what you describe along a cleared powerline run. They use the clearing along the woods to cross in preferred spots. Those preferred crossing are great places to setup.
