Ditto on the swamp, just sit still and you have a good chance, especially between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM. If the pines are thick enough they could also be a good bet.

Probably also would go with the swamp, but then again I dont know. Would depend on what is happening in the area, seems I have read that the rut in some parts of Alabama occur during January, if that is the case I really would have to try and figure out where the does are going to be mid day.
I think that the hunters who replied that the deer were in the swamp are probably right.
Here, where I hunt, I think our deer hide in spider-holes or caves dug deep into the ground.
They sit around all day playing cards and smoking cigars, and drinking heavily.
They plan strategies against us hunters, and laugh at us behind our backs.
They discuss their dates, and their love-life.
The deer here also print up their own newsletters and pass them around to keep the entire herd apprised of our stand locations and any changes we make in our activities.
They also post photos of us so the herd will know, by sight, which of us to avoid.
They know that I shoot straight and that I am to be avoided at all cost.
They have collected leaves that I have stepped on and have passed them around for all to smell.
They have also some of their best scholars monitoring the INTERNET sites to learn as much as they can about their enemy. (us)
The deer here take up annual collections to PETA and HSUS.
This is what I think our local deer are doing, and I cannot confirm nor deny any of these allegations.
