sighting in new sight help

I can only go to this indoor rifle range to make sure my sight is still on, but my problem is the rifle range is only 25 yards. My question is that if i shoot at 25 yards where should i be hitting to make it dead on at 100 yards. as in 1inch high or 1 inch low. just need a little help on this. I am shooing a 270 ruger m77 with a 130gr ballistic tip.

You definitely don't want to be hitting high at this range, I sighted in my 7 mag a few years ago and if I remember right I had to hit about 1-2" low at this range to be right on at 100 yards. At this close of a range you will want to be hitting a little low. I would find someplace where you can shoot out to at least 100 yards to ensure that everything is sighted in, every gun is going to shoot different.

I can tell you based on experience that hitting 1" low will put you about 4 to 6" high and over another 4 to 6" right at 100 yards on initial sighting in. If your rifle is already sighted in, then you should be grouping real tight.

It's to bad you can't get out to at least a 100 yard range to zero your rifle, after checking it at 25 yards. I often after zeroing at 100 yards, recheck at 50, then 40 and back to 25 yards just to know for that dark woods shot where shorter ranges are the norm.

I agree, find a farm or some public land and stretch it out there. There are to many factors that come into play to trust sighting in at that range.
