    Default My girlfriend's first buck!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well guys. We are back. After 740 miles on the pickup, I couldnt be more happy and proud of her. We left Friday afternoon for her family's cabin southwest of Lewistown. After almost 7 hours driving time we arrived and unloaded the truck in the rain. It rained hard all Friday night and started snowing Saturday morning. It stopped snowing saturday night after dropping about a foot of snow around the cabin. Sunday morning came along with blue skys. I thought it was goin to be perfect after the deer and elk were laid up all day in the rain and snow. We ended up seeing a spike bull elk which wasnt legal and he was by himself. We only saw a couple whitetail does too. By the time she decided that she wanted to shoot a doe we couldnt find one for her. The snow was way deeper up were we were hunting. I was pushin snow with my bumper of my truck tryin to get up higher. We packed up and headed to Choteau to see some family that was there from Louisiana for the wedding i skipped out on. lol. After talking with them for a while we decided that we would stay at my parents house that night since we were to tired to drive the rest of the way back to Missoula. I got permission for us to hunt my Pastor's land. We woke up this morning to winds about 40 mph. We parked the truck and walked through the bush down the irrigation ditch. I looked out and about 700 yards out in the stubble field there was a really really nice buck. We started to belly crawl out to him and realized that he was headed away from us to bed down in the brush on the other side of the ridge. So we got up and walked and ran towards him tryin to catch up. Keep in mind that this was in a wide open stubble field with stubble no taller than our boots. We got to within 200 yards and could see him by the fence. She couldnt see him and he jumped the fence and dropped off the ridge. So we kept after him. We caught out breath and walked up to the edge of the ridge. About 100 yards below us he was standing broadside to us drinking out of a little spring. Dusti flicked off the safety of her Ruger Hawkeye 270 and squeezed the trigger. The buck jumped and walked 10 feet and toppled over and the rest is history! She was beyond eccstatic. It took her well over an hour to calm down and breath normal! The buck is tall and narrow. He has about a 4 inch sticker off his G2. Both his browtines grow in about a half and inch then curve back while never being more than a half an inch above his skull! Her first buck is bigger than the bucks i have killed the last 3 years! So here is the pics! Enjoy! I Think i have created a MONSTER! I couldnt hardly get a good pic of her and her buck. Her eyes are closed in most of them cuz she kept lookin down at the horns! Her cousin is my taxidermist in Choteau and her buck is with him now and Im having a European mount done for her!

Unfortunatley, now we are starting to understand what the second quote means, and... what the first quote says about us.
