Geez thats pretty dang big!
Thats a very nice fish!
When I was fishing in Yellowstone, they told me if I caught a lake trout to kill it if I didn't want to keep it. They suggested sticking a knife through its diaphragm and letting it sink back into the water.
Why in teh heck would they tell you to do that??!!
All our fish were catch & release except for a 6-10lb one for shore lunch each day. These big fish are very old & take years to get that big.I wouldn't care much for who ever told you that in "Yellowstone".That would be against the law here besides very unethical.
Nice fish!
Actually the wardens told me that when I was picking up my permit to fish.
According to them the Lake Trout will kill out the Native Trout thus they have been deemed a nuisance. All of the trout, short of the lake trout, had a size limit and such. Literally they said kill or keep any lake trout you catch. I fished mainly streams and rivers so i never got close to a lake trout.
