I use the BPS Excel--I don't know who makes it but it has been a good line. I buy in bulk and during the spring/summer when I am fishing a lot I change my line frequently--especially on my pitching/flipping rigs since they take most of the abuse in heavy cover and the shock from my hook sets. I set the hook like every bite is the next state record!
todd
Same Goose.Works well & inexpensive.
Depends on the job at hand.
P-Line xtra strong
P-Line flourocarbon
Berkley Big Game
Spiderwire stealth
Trilene XT and XL
I like useing the HEAVY COVER by Berkly i believe! I like that stuff! Its some TOUGH STuff! I have not had one break off yet!
i use berkley. it works great in heavy cover.
I use Power Pro for muskies, fireline for pike, and trilene for all other fish.
Flipping/Pitching - Izorline
Everything else - ReaLine (no longer made but I bought a bunch before they went out of business).
i use Trilene.
Berkely Trilene XT 8 pound, is my mono of choice for walleyes! I love the stuff for early season walleyes! I have several 8-9 pounders on it, and have caught 4 sturgeon over 30# on it! For ice fishing I use the XL 2 pound for crappies 6# for walleyes:
I do not use the "super lines" as I have witnessed to many big fish be lost because of the no stretch in them. Maybe tipup fishing I'll use strong line, but fireline to me is a joke: Spiderwire is almost as big of a joke.....no stretch = lost fish in my book! You can catch the big boys if you play them :-)
For bigger fish like flatheads in heavy cover I go with a heavy braided line, I like the Berkley whiplash in about a 40 lb test but its kinda expensive.Worth the money though if you gotta keep a 30 lb fish away from a log jam in the dark.
Everything else I use Berkley mono
I use 4 lb spiderwire on my ultralite rig, 8 or 10 pound spiderwire on my spinning rigs, and 10 or 12 lb spiderwire on my baitcaster.
I've been using Stren, but might try Berkley Triline.
I use Trilene XL 8# for walleyes. It just doesn't curl as much in the rivers, and I can feel my jig better with it.
