I have a Blackhawk 41 mag, single action I just bought. The 41 redhawks are hard to find unless you want to spend an arm and a leg. I shot this gun and a 44 redhawk at the same time and found the 41 much more user friendly, adding to my accuracy anyway. Ammo is harder to come by, no trips to Walmart for bullets like a 44, but the accuracy is worth the extra work. Would be nice to have double action but I just love this gun. My gun also ejects the shells one at a time instead of opening the cylinder.

I would say the accuracy is the same between the 44 & 41. The 44 is easier to find ammo for and hits harder. I shoot a 44 Super Redhawk with a 7.5" barrel and it will drop the ram at 200 yards if I do my part.

For all practicle purposes the .41 and .44 are about equal using bullet weights between 180-220 grains. The .44 is able to handle much larger bullets all the way up to 325 grains. Both are capable of outstanding accuracy. The .41 may be a little easier on the hand than the .44.

As stated above there is an abundance of factory ammo available for the .44 mag. This isn't the case for the .41.

With a 50yd limit you'll want to keep the optics simple. If you want a little magnification take a look at the Burris 1.5X4 handgun scope. I have one of these on a contender barrel, it's a nice piece. Leupold makes a nice 2X pistol scope that'll serve you well for 50yd shots. This is the scope that rides my S&W .44. If you are inclined to want a red dot type electronic sight give the offerings from Burris, Leupold or Aimpoint a look. They will handle the recoil levels they'll be exposed to.

As far as what bullet weights to use. I use 200-240gr projectiles in my .44s for deer. You don't need the heavy weights.

You can camo dip stainless guns.

Hangunnr nailed it. I have shot both several times. They are pretty close for sure. Either wiould be fine, but I would opt for the .44 for the versatility. You can load a .44 with very light loads and very heavy.
