Opinions on Hi-point pistols

for the price, they are hard to beat IMO. I have one, shot a couple of hundred rounds through it with no problems. For me, it was the "perfect" gun, easy on the wallet in both price and ammo, yet capable of taking someone down if the need arrives, and if I lose it or it get's stolen, big deal!!

save your $$$. get a glock or a sig or do i dare say HK!!! i have a few glocks and i love them. bought a g21 the week after i turned 21 and now have a glock 32 for concealed carry. great guns

High Point guns IMO go into the group of better to have then no gun at all group. They wouldn't be on my want list....... BUT....if that's what you budget allows then go for it.

Springfield XD 9mm, I have one, have never had a problem with it. You get the performance of a Glock and save a couple hundred bucks in the process.

go and shoot at the range. just make sure the guns you shoot are clean. some ranges never clean their guns and find out whats comfortable in your hands.

Just like everyone said, you get what you pay for! i bought one a few years back. It was spend $150 now, or wait another year or two til I saved another 200 or 250 for a "big name" gun(have a wife and 2 kids, and one income.....so that's no exaggeration- year or 2) It is not a pretty or refined handgun. The slide is powder coated and I think it is forged steel. Very heavy for it;s size and rough. I got it thinking it was small enough for concealed carry, but now I rarely carry it- mostly to the range. But like others said- better than nothing.

I ended up selling my marlin 30-30 and getting a kel-tec .380 for concealed carry. But that's another story.

Whenever I see a thread about Hi-Point pistols on here, I only see two replies, one talking about how someone has never had any problems with one they have owned, and the other being , you get what you pay for, and that response is typically from someone that typically has never even picked one up. If thats what you want, go to a shop that has a try before you buy, if it fits good in your hand, shoots well, and doesn't malfunction, then get it. I have a Mil-Spec 1911 from Springfield that I paid 400 bucks for, it shoots the same ammo as a 1000 dollar one, and haven't had a problem with it, I also have a Springfield XD in 9mm, it shoots the same ammo as a 700 dollar Glock, haven't had a problem with that either, I'll swear by either one of those 400 dollar guns, my next purchase I plan on getting a sub-compact XD in .40 caliber for concealment. If you want a 1200 dollar gun, by all means get one, I just can't justify it.

Is that the little 380 that is designed after the 32? If so, how do you like it?

Yes, I have the Kel-tec P-3AT. Kel-tec took the P-32, and "converted" it from .32 to .380. They had to eliminate the slide stop and cut the magazine capacity by 1 round, but only added a few ounces to the weight of the gun. If you ask me it's well worth it- I feel the .380 has a lot more "punch" than the little .32!~

Capacity is 6+1, but the weight (loaded) is only 10 oz! It fits in a front pocket, and you hardly know it's there.

DO I like it? NO! I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got it mainly for warm weather carry, but it's such a pleasure to carry, I carry it year round now!
