41 Magnum

The .41 Mag. oughta make a fine deer gun out to 75 or 100 yards if hits where it's pointed.

I don't know as that I'd buy a .41 as my only hunting handgun, though. I'd get a .44 and be done. You won't find .41 shells at Wal-Mart. And a .44 can be loaded down to .41 levels if recoil is a problem. But you can't load a .41 Mag to .44 mag numbers. There is also a WAY bigger selection of bullets for the .44

I just sold my Ruger redhawk .41. I thought it was a sweet pistol. Unfortunately, I had to sell it because my up close and personal hog hunting days are over.

The .41 and .44 perform about equally until you get up to the heavy bullet weights.

The .41 recoil has less percieved torque than the .44mag.

Unless you feel the need to throw heavy bullets the .41mag is a fine choice for a medium game caliber.
