    is it a 18 or a 19 model becvause if it is the russian i think 18 then you have to shoot different ammo but if it's the 19 you can shoot american 9mm

    Makarovs are 9x18. Don't try to shoot 9x19 (9mm Luger) through it. I think most gun shops should carry 9x18, it's pretty popular.

    Rhinodog is correct. The 9X18 is the proper cartridge for your gun. Some of the recent import guns were chambered for the 9mm kurz or as it's more commonly known, the .380 auto. The calibers are not interchangable.

    Bullet diameter on the original Makorov is .363 compared to .355 for the kurz.

    If the gun is marked 9mm Makorov then 9X18 is the round you want.
