9mm on deer

Here in Indiana shooting a deer with a 9mm would be an illegal act. I took a look at the Missouri regs and couldn't find whether that caliber is OK or not. I would most definately check with the proper authorities prior to heading to the field with one.

With that said..........

I don't feel the 9mm to be anywhere near enough power to take deer sized game. Sure, with an expertly place shot you can kill a deer as dead as a 300 Win mag would kill one, but there are much better choices out there.

I agree with hangunnr on this! Its illegal in PA to shoot a semi-auto at big game even if you walk up to it for a finishing shot! Better check your game laws!

I think in about all states it has to be a revolver and I would not think it has enough punch at all. I carry a 45 acp for the punch and if it were legal would not shoot a deer with it

Not enough umphh on a 9mm to get the job done right legal or not...Oh sure a 9 will kill a deer but chances are it won't be an ethical killing. Step it up to at least a 357 mag...

If I were going to deer hunt with a handgun, I think a 44 mag would be the lowest I would use! I carry my 357 with me deer hunting for maybe a finishing shot. Not a first shot! Although it will kill a deer, but I feel you need to very close! JMO!
