Default New Summit Cobra x4 climber...

I purchased a new Summit Cobra x4 climbing stand from Cabela's this past week....I'm yet to try it out hopefully tomorrow I will practice climbing with it to see how it does, I have been using the older model Ol' Man Grand Vision and the Summit is ALOT LIGHTER.....is there any Summit climbing stand users out there? Do the cables hold up good etc., any info on these stands will be appreciated so I know what to expect, thanks.

Oh yeah! Summit is the only stand I'll use. I had an old Viper XLS and now have a Viper X4. You want the stand to feel about an additional 10 pounds lighter? Go to Summit's site and order some of the Deluxe Padded Backpack Straps. They are awesome! Also, the High Traction Strips are awesome!

I used a Summit stand for the first time this year and its a decent stand. I have a Python I will use for bow season, and I just got a 2003 Goliath for gun season. Its definately a comfortable stand. Not as secure as the Loggy once its set (I don't think anything is) but its quieter and quicker to set up.

i have the Cobra X4, new this year too.

i've used mine twice so far, and have learned some things. the climbing bar makes for interesting contortions with my safety harness, and there's no way around it unless i change my harness.

other than that, i like it.

Did you get the safety DVD with your stand Chris? They have a deal on there that shows how to rig your harness so you can climb the tree and then settle into the seat without undoing it.

I BOUGHT ONE LAST YEAR.DONT REMEMBER THE MODEL,BUT IT HAS THE OPEN FRONY ON IT.IT IS THE MOST COMFORTABLE STAND I HAVE EVER USED.MY CABLE IS HOLDING UP GREAT.THAT WAS A HECK OF AN IDEA,AND THE THING GOES UP PRETTY QUICK AND EASY.I BOUGHT THE CLIMBING STIRRUPS A FEW MONTHS AGO AND THEM WORK PRETTY DARN GOOD.I WOULD RECOMMEND A SUMMIT TO ANYONE.

yeah, i got it Matt, but near as i can tell, you have to use their climbing harness system, and i still use my Ameristep harness.
