Thread: Ratchet Snips?

I own a pair of the Gerber/Fiskars ratchet clippers and I use them quite a bit. This will be my fourth season with them and they're holding up very good. One problem I do have (since they were new) is that sometimes the ratchet mechanism doesn't want to catch, especially on the bigger branches. They are only supposed to be used on limbs 1" and smaller, but I can cut limbs up to about 1 1/2" with mine. I would say they are a very valuable item to keep in your pack, especially when hanging a stand or trimming shooting lanes. I say go for it.

No...I don't have a pair. I use an extended pole saw to clear shooting lanes and branches from around my stands that I hang. I also carry a little folding saw for those just in case limbs!

I use a garden variety pruner, not the ratchet type. I only carry these holstered, during turkey season. I will say there a very, VERY useful asset to have along for that quick fix while hunting.

Having carried them now for about ten years I don't know how I ever got along without them before! Go ahead and buy a good pair, about 25 dollars or so and you'll never look back.

I have been using Fiskers saws and snips for a long time. You will find they are less expensive in the gardening dept.
