    Default Walker\'s game ear

Has anybody used these? I'm looking at the game ear II mainly for the hearing protection, my gun sounds like a cannon with the muzzle brake and I never have time to stick a ear plug in when the deer comes out.

I have 2 of them and they work great. I mostly use them when I'm turkey hunting so I can hear gobbles off in the distance. Unless you have a problem with hearing different tone's, you really dont need the game ear II. Get the game ear it's cheaper and you get the same hearing protection as the game ear II.

I depends on how much you turn the volume up. If I turn the volume up to a comfortable level, it doubles my hearing.

I broke down and bought them. I bought two and the hunted with them all last week. First of all if it's the least bit windy you have to keep them turned down or all you will hear is the wind noise. You can hear certain sounds way off like squirels or birds and branches breaking. but hearing deer walking is a little more difficult. I haven't played with the adjustable frequency much yet which might improve the deer part but I shot my weatherby 270 mag with muzzle break and it worked great! This was the main reason I bought them the hearing enhancement was just a bonus for me.

I don't find they help with ordinary conversation but then again the adjustable freqeuncy might help. I found them online for $159 a piece.

I used to have one but I gave it away to a guy that had hearing problems through a thread started by Dman here about 2 years ago.

They work fine but all the sounds you hear will be different than they really are. I just couldn't get used to the idea of going through the process of re-teaching myself what the sounds of a deer walking was. A squirrel running through the leaves made him sound like he was a 50 lb. critter. After so many years of listening to the difference between different sounds made by wild animals I didn't have the patience to go through that learning process again. The other problem I had was coursing the direction of sounds. I never could using them.
