Sight on a recurve..........

I have an older recurve, nothing real collectable, paid about 70 bucks for it. Anyway, I like to shoot it but I don't have the time to practice enough to shoot it instinctivley well. I was kicking around putting a sight on it but I dont want to put on a new style one like a tru glo or cobra with the machined brackets. So my questions are
1)What do you all think of putting a sight on a recurve?
2) Where can I get a sight that is the old style stamped metal bracket?

I seriously doubt that you will like shooting a recurve with sights. Reason being is that most recurve shooter normally lean their bow to keep the arrow on the shelf. If you do use a sight stick with a single pin and realize that unless you practice alot that that one pin will only be accurate at that yardage. You will not be able to simply compensate up or down.

I must agree with Hutchies on this.
I tired it once upon and time and it was horrible.
You can not shoot a recurve like you can a compound.
Unless your full draw poundage is so low you can anchor, hold, and then aim like you can with a compound without shaking like a mad dog.
Ussually with a trad bow (long or recurve) you hit anchor and let fly. Not snap shooting but its a lot faster means of anchor then a compoiund.
I had shot compounds for 17+ years and sold it all to go trad only. I am in year 3 now and believe me, do not put a sight on for hunting...
When I did it I had it set for 20 yards thinking I could compensate and hold higher for 30 and lower for 10. Nope.
The arch off a trad bow is not the same as a compoind and you shot a alot flatter at 10 and a lot less beyond 20 that you simply can not judge it without practicing it so you end up doing just as much or more practicing with a sight then without.
As I shot with it I noticed that the pin and entire sight seemd to be more in the way then anything.
I tried to just move all my compound form and ways of shooting to my traditional bows and it just did not work...
I removed the sight shortly afterwards and my groups soon came afterwards.

Although it does take a lot more practice to shoot a trad bow without sights, its not that difficult and will come together.
You may not get the 25 to 40 yards you had with a compound but bow hunting is about how close you can get nto how far you can shoot...

Start at like 10 yards and move out to 15 yards only after you can put all 3 arrows in a 2" to 3" circle.. everytime.
You will be at 20 yards before you know it...

think of it like throwing a baseball to someone. At first you were all over the place but soon you were able to judge distance and throw accurately and hit fairly close to your mark.
Its sorta the same for a trad bow. Your brain, sub-conscience, learns this archs and arrow paths and you simply stare a hole in the spot you wanna hit and then draw anchor and release and low and behold the arrows starts to go where you want it...
Your training your hand/eye and your brain more then your arm and back muscles.
