Default Help! What can I keep my sight on with?

I am getting my shotgun ready for turkey and I have a universal true glow sight for a front bead on my shotgun. My problem is it screws in and I have it where I want, but it will move if I barely bump it, and I can't screw it tighter unless I want to break it, so what can I use to keep it in place? I don't want to use super glue because I don't know if that'll ruin my sight?? Andy has a can of plumbers putty/glue stuff on his shelf that says adhesive/does not set so I was wondering if that might work? I won't be going to any gun shop to have them glue it on or whatever so if anyone can tell me anything, please let me know!!! Thanks!

I'd try some loctite on the threads. Its used for bolts and nuts to prevent them from coming out. Any parts store would have it. It comes in a small bottle, if you know a mechanic ask him if you can borrow some because for what it costs and what you need, you will never use a full bottle.

Its called Loctite and its in a small red bottle

I have some doublestick tape that is used to hold up metal building insulation. That stuff is awesome! You can hold about anything together with it. I know they make several types and I bet they are all just about as good. Thats what id check into.

Well I don't know that I'll be getting to a store any time by opener Monday. I did go over and rummage through Andy's tool area and found some really thin almost rubber like white tape stuff that I think I've seen him put on screws maybe when he screws them in? I also found some double sided foamy tape that may work, but could it cause a major issue by like rising the sight a tiny bit? I have a mid-bead so if it raised the front sight a tiny bit, it may not do anything anyway?? I also found some carpet tape which is thin and really sticky with these firbous thread in it. I'm thinking of trying this thin rubbery like tape stuff, but what do you think I should use of the three I've found? I'm not going to do anything until I get an opinion? Thanks for all the suggestions!

Two kinds of lock tight, red and blue. red is if you don't want it to ever come loose and blue if you want to take it off later. Auto parts stores carry it.

Well what I tried didn't work so I'll have to try to find some Loctite I guess. Andy has some Fletch-tite for fletching arrows, would that work the same as Loctite or would it ruin the gun metal and the sight? I'm like broke right now, lol, so if the Fletching stuff would work, great. I'm just don't know if it would let me take it out later or not... if I needed to for a reason

Try some clear nailpolish, works as well as most Loctite products.

The tape your talking about is probably teflon tape TG. That is for plumbing. I would go with some loc tite if it were me,theremovalble kind. Wal mart carries it and it is cheap.

The fletching glue will be about the same as superglue. I probablywould not use it if I were you.

Thanks everyone! When Andy got home, I asked him if he had anything and what he did was take this tiny, thin piece of rubber and put it under the side which tightened it up a bit so it seems to be holding. If I get to store , I'll look for Loctitie otherwise I'll try to nailpolish thing!

Actually, the Fletch-tite will work. I had a Mossberg with the old Truglo stick-on sights. I didn't trust the tape so I went around the edge of it with Fletch-tite. It's been there for 10-12 years now. I've also used it to secure fiber optic pins that wanted to move back and forth a bit. Works great.

Do not use the cycroanalate/superglue type though. It will probably melt your sight pins.

Good luck with your turkey season.
