    Default Game Ear/Muffs

Just wondering if anyone uses the ear muffs that tune out gun shots, but allow normal conversation through?

I just had my hearing tested here at work and I got in major heck from the lady doing the tests. Apparently my left ear is pretty bad. She knew right away that I was a shooter and warned me that I would be deaf by 35(i think she's exagerating a little there) if I wasn't carefull. SOOOOOooo, I need to do something.

I shoot a lot of skeet, and trap. I hate ear plugs cause they bother my ears. Looking for an alternative. What do you guys reccomend? What is the price of them?

Take a look at the ones made by Peltor! They are pretty good! I think they might be around $125.00 or so!

Thats what i use...the tactical 6....they work good...i use them at the range and sometimes if its not to windy i will use them when i go into the woods....when its not windy out you can hear people talking from about 100 yards, but it has to be clear out...in the cabelas shooting catalog i think they are list ed for $69.99...and $79.99 for the tact 7

Peltor makes a good one as does many other companies. The Caldwell one is a great price and works well too.
Found this the other day you may like it.

I agree with these folks IF your only gonna use them at the range.
If you intend to do any serious hunting, then I would look at the Walker Power Muffs. Its my understanding that the wind does not effect them like the others listed. I can not say 100% if that for certain, but its what I have read on the forums.
We all know about wind and hunting. Its normally not your friend in any case. LOL

I plan on getting a set of the Walker Power Quad Muffs. They are around $200 everywhere I have looked.

i wasn't implying that they don't work at all during the wind....they were just fine as far as muffling the sound of a gun shot down..wind or no wind....but they also amplify sound...if you use them in the woods it is pretty much pointless if it is windy out....i tried and all you can hear are the leaves on the trees and the wind...very tough to hear a deer walking towards you....i'm not talkin a slight breeze....they still work good during that...but if its a big howling wind and constant...

these are the ones I have and they seem to do a great job. I also used to use the plugs but when duck hunting I got tired of not being able to hear the ducks--I have been very pleased. They intensify safe noises then block our the loud harmful noises.
