    Default New GPS!

I just bought a new GPS unit, its a Garmin Etrex Vista. Bought it at www.walmart.com for $218! Cabela's wanted $269! Anyways, this thing is pretty cool! I need to play and learn now!

hey john, just wanted to let you know that my dad went to get one from wal mart and the guy suggested the $100 GPS. he said they were basically the same thing and that he shouldn't spend the extra money.

but hey, congrats on the new toy.

Unfortuneately GARMIN has several models of the "etrex" line. Some are much better than others.
A basic etrex is about $99 vs an etrex Vista for $200-300 depending on the store. The basic models do not have the ability to download to your computer. I have the Vista, and when I go scouting for deer, I can save all the deer sign and implant that toward a topo map and save it for next hunting season. The cheap ones can't do that. They are not equal.

I have the regular $99.00 Etrax. It is perfect for what I need. Geocaching and scouting. Have fun with your new toy.

I wanted the one with the coastal navigational markers on them! Plus this one has the biggest memory for D/L'ing maps! Besides I saved $60 bucks on this unit!
