Default How to get rid of the rubber smell on my Burly\'s

I got a pair of LaCrosse Alpha Burly before the season started and they still have that Neoprene smell to them, I leave them outside or in the shed, they have been rained on, sprayed with dirt and acorn scent killer, left in the sun, been in the woods with me through mud and creeks, and that neoprene smell is still there, albeit not as strong as when you first buy them, does it ever come off, I am worried that when I walk through tall grass that scent is getting left behind.

I bought a pair of uninsulated Lacrosse's about 2 years ago. I thought the same thing during hunting season. Nothing i did got rid of the smell either. now 2 years later, they are smell free. I think it justtakes time.

On the other hand, my brother bought a pair of burly's this fall. Within a few weeks of buying them, he shot a 5 point at about 10 yards during the first week of bow season. I have heard people say that that smell won't bother deer. I don't know why.

I don't think anything but time will get rid of the smell. I just picked up a cheap pair of rubber boots from Walmart for next year!

I had a nice pair of LaCrosse boots and had a small fender bender 3 years ago and smacked my left ankle real bad. Not broken but it is still not the same to this day. I could not use them due to the ankle being to tight.
Of coarse I did not know I could not use the boots until the day before our bow season.
I ran down to the local feed store where I knew they sold some stuff for hunting and bough a 600 gram insulated pair of Ranger boots with advantage camo. Cool!
But man did they have that "smell" of rubber.
BAD!!!! -And it freaked me out.
I scrubbed and everything to no avail.
Even now, 3 years later, if the sun or heat gets to them I can smell it.
I think to myself, "If I can smell it, I assume the deer can, and maybe even leaving the scent."

But I just wittnessed 9 doe walk up the same trail and log road I have walked on and they did not seem to notice anything out of the ordinary. Even fed on the field grass I just walked on.
Same spot where we draged out a buck days before and drove a pick up truck over to retrieve it.
    Weird.

But I have seen deer tracks over and over in my boot prints in the last 3 years so in short I do not feel, IMO, that the boots give off a scent that is lasting or bothers the deer.

I have to dis-agree on the smell! Not all deer are the same.
Here is what i found out. If the deer doesn't know what is making the rubber smell , the rubber smell won't bother it.
BUT..if the deer finds out its you, he will know that smell now.
Rather seeing you walk in and smelling your tracks, etc....something to give your presence away. They WILL know that smell afterwards
