I was wondering how many of you all have deer feeders and how well do you like them as far as attracting deer and does it help keep them in them on you place really well? Also what kind of feed or stuff do you put in them?

i use deer feeders, feeding corn and yes they do attract deer however its normally does and immature bucks, and as far as keeping them around i can't say for sure but with electric feeders on timers they seem to make it habitual to come there everyday
I had made mine out of a 55 gal drum and a few items I got from Cabelas (battery powered spin cast feeder motor, 6v solar panel to charge battery)
I had the same observations on only doe and smaller deer coming to the feeder. I used a Stealth Cam to record what was coing to it and when.
I used whole kernal corn and in the end, Antler King deer pellets.
Either one works as well as the other IMHO.
VT passed a no baiting law recently so the feeder has been retired.
Use shelled corn at our camera. Had used a gravity feeder(pvc pipe) at our stealth cam for a while with corn. Dont think they held any deer on the property, but they did get them closer to the camera.
I've got 6 of these feeders scattered around the 7000 acres I hunt. They will hold 600 lbs each and I fill them with 18% protein pellets that are custom made at the local feed mill. The deer are free to eat anytime they want and as much as they want. I go through about 7 or 8 tons of feed every year. We've got a few corn feeders that we run too, but they don't get near as much traffic as the protein feeders.

I just made a homemade deer feeder out of PVC piping gets what i want it to do done.
So i guess its pretty nice.
Texan..I like that idea..I did that here too when we could, it is now illegal to do. Spring is the time we started with the high protein pellets..what a difference in antlers we saw!!
I have about 15 feeders. 8 are spin cast tripods and I like those best. In the winter I use corn but in the summer I use soybeans. I dont know how much the protein pellets cost but soybean have up to 32 % protein and the deer love them. Also the coons wont mess with the soybeans so you wont waste so much.
