Summit stands are quite comfortable and are very durable. While I havenot personally had to deal with their customer service, have herad that they also have great customer service. Really dont think you could go wrong with a summit stand.

Then you definitely want the Goliath! Rated for 350 pounds and only 1 pound heavier than the Viper! I own the Goliath because it has a larger top section, which means more ROOM!

As far as hang-on's, if you have the money, Lone Wolf is the best bang for your buck. Pretty roomy platforms and there is no other stand on the market that is as quiet as Lone Wolf.

For climbers, it depends what you are looking for. Since you are a bigger person, a Lone Wolf probably isn't a great choice for you. The seats aren't overly huge. But, the do fold completely flat and are probably the lightest climbers on the market. Summits are a bit heavier, not quite as quiet, but very, very comfortable. The Goliath would be a good choice.

How big a boy are ya? I have a API Grand Slam Shooting Star that retails for around $325 but I could negotiate the price a lot lower. It's not mint but I have killed several deer out of it. Everything works perfectly and and it doesn't creek at all even under my weight. I have never climbed easier or been more secure in a stand in my life. It's got a foot rest and a sling seat with elbow pads on your sides. I researched and studied every stand I could find to make sure I could get one that fit all of my requirements and this is the only one that fit every one. I usually get up to around 30 ft sometimes and it's as solid as if I were on flat ground. PM me and I will try to take some pics for you. By the way, I live in Illinois.

I've never owned a LoneWolf or a Summit hang on, nor have I sat in one for any period of time. I do own a couple of the Gorilla stands and have to say I have been very happy with them and plan to buy a couple more for this year. I'm not sure the weight limits on them either but I would bet they make a model for big guys.

for a hang on i say gorilla or lone wolf.. and a climber i would only buy an API. I have hunted out of one of my many API's for over 5 years now and it is still as quiet as day one. To me with the Summitt's, there are too much to them to have to mess with when setting up on the tree and getting settled in.
