Some ladder stands allow you to stand with fold away seats that fold up and out of the way, while others you may not be able to stand so easily to shoot. Any type of stand you are comfortable shooting from will work so long as you practice shooting from the type of postion you plant to hunt from. If the stand is one you can only sit in, be comfortable with shooting sitting. I like to practice shooting my bow standing and sitting both and from different angles and positions. I will usually shoot from sitting positions on the edge of my garage or my shed to shoot quite a bit as seasons draw closer.

All that said, I personally prefer to hunt from a climber while bowhunting, but do still hunt from my homemade ladder stands as well.
